Forehead wrinkles, crow's feet, and frown lines are all considered consequent dynamic wrinkling change how you look and feel. At Anders Dermatology in Toledo, OH, our board-certified dermatologists offer BOTOX Cosmetic to limit muscular movement and smooth unwanted lines. Learn more here:

What is BOTOX Cosmetic?

It's an injectable medication derived from the botulism toxin. Called a neuromodulator, BOTOX restricts the movement of certain muscles in the face. With limited movement comes smoother, younger-looking skin without the downtime, expense, and discomfort that facelift surgeries may pose.

Who can receive BOTOX?

A full facial skin exam and review of medical history qualifies most healthy adults for BOTOX injectables. Healthline reports BOTOX as safe and effective, and while its therapeutic effects are not permanent, they do last for several months. Repeat BOTOX injections may be performed as needed right in our Toledo office, as well.

Am I too old for BOTOX?

People in their 30s benefit most from an aesthetic skin treatment plan which includes BOTOX injectables. You and your dermatologist will decide if your skin goals are reachable with this popular treatment. If you are pregnant or nursing, you will postpone your BOTOX treatments.

What is administration like?

Patients report a mild bee sting sensation as the doctor applies the medication with a fine needle. The treatment takes minutes, and you can leave the office to return to your regular day. Afterward, your skin may feel tender and look a bit red and puffy for a few days. However, there is no real downtime when you receive skin treatments with BOTOX.

How do I know BOTOX is safe?

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved BOTOX for aesthetic facial rejuvenation almost 20 years ago. You should also know that BOTOX helps people with medical issues such as:

  • Excessive sweating
  • Drooping eyelids
  • Crossed eyes
  • Migraine headaches
  • Neck spasms
  • Hyperactive bladder
  • Jaw joint dysfunction
